The Colony of Novidunum of Byzantium Novum comprises the modern US States of Northern New England; Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Noviodunum literally means "new fort" and there were several cities of this name in different provinces of the Roman world. Our Colony is named for the Byzantine city of Noviodunum, which was the farthest northeastern location in the Byzantine provinces of Europe.

We are currently working to grow Noviodunum into an active local community which holds gatherings and events! We now maintain a message board for our colony at:  http://noviodunum.boards.net/

As our Byzantine Colony becomes more organized, we hope to include activities such as:

* Gatherings for the discussion of Byzantine related topics

*Informal social meetings for lunch or dinner (Byzantine food, anyone?)

*Establishing a Byzantine era historical reenactment unit and/or attending reenactment events

*Trips to museums with Byzantine artifacts and content, such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, or the Icon museum in Clinton, Mass.

*Visits to various Orthodox churches for worship and public events.

* Discussion and practice of late Classical religion of the Byzantine Era
